Brazen Careerist: A community for Millennials

Millennials need each other. Most of us are going through the same events in our life, just graduating college or working at our first or second position on the road to a successful career.

If we are all going through the same events in life – why not lean on each other? Receiving support and ideas from other people in the same boat as you, automatically gives you a better chance to succeed.

This is where the Brazen Careerist comes handy. Brazen Careerist is an online community for millennials who are actively managing their career, learning curve and their network. I joined in 2008. I use the site to read commentary from other Gen Y bloggers, but the site is more than just that. You can find blog posts for everything from A to Z about Gen Y’s/millennials.

Members can also create profiles, join groups, post resumes and look for jobs. The main page features a personal fan feed so you can keep up with the latest thought leadership from other millennials.

Brazen Careerist was founded by author and career columnist Penelope Trunk.  I had the opportunity to see Penelope speak at the 2008 PRSA International Conference. Penelope reminded us that Gen Y will soon be in middle management positions. Trunk and the rest of her team really did a good job to lay down the foundation for the community and now members create the content.

If my words haven’t convinced you to join the community (it’s free), go to the site and read the content. I guarantee you’ll connect with others going through the same successes and challenges.
