A year of blogging about PR and Social Media

Today is my one year anniversary of blogging about public relations and social media trends.

I want to take this opportunity to repost some of my favorite blog posts that I have written as well as post your favorites. I’d also like to thank my guest bloggers from this past year (Kay Ross, Daryl James, and Carol Sunnucks). They took the time to write a post when they didn’t have to. Of course I’d also like to thank YOU, the reader!

My favorite posts:

An introduction to higher education PR – This post gives you insight on what I do on a daily basis. If you’re interested in higher Ed PR or have no clue what higher Ed PR is – read this post.

A Gen Y’er on a late Sunday night – I don’t do well falling asleep on Sunday nights. For some reason my life flash in front of me.

A PR Pros Social Media Blunder: Rejecting before accepting – A social media blunder.

Your favorite posts:

What not to do if you’re a PR student – Post about how a college PR student faked an interview with me and turned it in as an assignment. The student also posted the fake interview on his/her blog

Common mistakes new PR pros make – This recent post features tips from three members of Phoenix PRSA’s New Pros Section for college and entry-level PR pros

Minor vs. major mistakes in Public Relations – Examples of minor and major mistakes in PR. Is it ever ok to make a mistake in PR?

The post I should have never written:

What do Mexican food restaurants and communicators have in common? – I’m happy that I wrote the post, but the picture in the post is the No. 2 result on Google images. I am receiving tons of views from people searching for “Mexican food.”

The future:

I hope to continue to bring you thoughtful material worth reading. I’m looking to also feature more guest bloggers to bring you a unique perspective on subjects. Please feel free to head over to the contact page or Tweet me.

Gotta love search traffic that has absolutely no interest in your content. The other day a new visitor found my blog after a Google image search for dear skull. Not deer skull, mind you. Dear skull. He left unfulfilled by an image of Hamlet addressing the skull of Yorick. Oops!
